Run natural selection on the room itself. In the peppered moth simulation every phone is a bird hunting its own patch of bark, and the moths the class misses live to breed. When the woods turn to soot, the drawer of specimens on the projector fills with dark moths, though no moth ever changes colour. The screen shows counts only, never names.
