Votes, voices and representation.

Run a debate and compare votes before and after the speeches. The projector traces who stayed, who crossed and who remained undecided, using counts rather than names. The final majority and the side that moved the room can be different.

Or keep the voters fixed and change the boundaries: students draw electoral districts on the same fictional town, then compare which parties win seats. Use the room’s own maps to discuss representation, fairness and who should draw the lines.

Draw the districts

A practice run with fictional students. No real classroom or join code is created.

Setting up the room…

  • Your map—

Draw five voting districts for one side, then redraw the same town as fairly as you can. Compare the room’s maps with every legal map, examine up to two submitted plans, and see where the room agrees on borders.

  • THE ROOM BEFORE THE DEBATEForUndecidedAgainst

Two sides argue a motion, turn by turn against the clock, while the room votes before the first speech and again after the last. Then every vote walks from where it started to where it ended: who held, who crossed, and which way. The side that gained more ground moved the room, and it need not be the side that won the vote. Counts only, never names; each phone sees its own path. The motion is one line to change.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add it to your library

Sign up free and pull the activity from Decka's built-in classroom catalog — one click copies it into your own library, ready to run from Decka or inside PowerPoint.

  2. 02

    Students join by QR

Everyone scans from the projector and plays in their phone's browser. No app, no account, nothing to install.

  3. 03

    You run the room

You move the activity phase by phase: collection closes, the boards resolve on the big screen, and the debrief happens while the results are still up.
